School of Nursing and Midwifery
History : In 1991, the Bam School of Nursing initiated its educational, research , and cultural activities . As the city s first institution of higher education, the faculty accepted 44 nursing students , hired eight faculty members , and in the same year had its Faculty Chart with 15 members of the scientific board and five administrative staff approved by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education and signed by the university s esteemed president . The School of Nursing was originally located in the old Bam Hospital adjacent to the Imam Khomeini Hospital. In 1993, it was moved to a different location on Shariati Street. After the devastating earthquake that struck Bam on December 26, 2003, it was relocated to the city of Kerman for four years before resuming operations in the current building on the Medical Campus on Persian Gulf Boulevard in October 2007. Since 2011, the school has been accepting students for the midwifery program. In 2012, it began accepting students for the Medical Emergency Associate Degree , and in 2016, it began accepting students for the bachelor s degree program in Operating Room Technology. This school operates per the policies of the Islamic Republic s holy establishment and the Ministry of Health and Medical Education and is regarded as one of the university s most important faculties.
Objectives
Promote faculty members abilities in educational, research and clinical areas to improve the faculty s efficiency and effectiveness
Promote the role of the School in educational research affairs for providing national strategies in nursing
Bolster relations with research centers inside and outside of the country
Strengthen educational and research services to enhance the scientific quality of the graduates
Develop scientific informing and relations with research centers inside and outside of the country
Establish a Nursing and Midwifery, Emergency Medical and Operating Theater Research Center to grow and develop research and knowledge production in the fields of Nursing and Midwifery, Medical Emergency and Operating Theater
Develop the physical space of the School for educational and research activities
Strengthen supervision and control systems in educational, research and clinical dimensions at the faculty level
Promote the SNM Role in Education, training and Research areas and Providing National Strategies in Nursing and Midwifery
Devise cultural activities to set the ground for cultural, religious, political and social activities of students and faculty members
Vision:
SNM intends to utilize state-of-the-art educational techniques, create an atmosphere of excellence combined with creativity and innovation, and support faculty, staff and students, while addressing the faculty's educational problems and needs, to train committed, innovative graduates in keeping with promoting community health.
Mission:
The mission of the School of Nursing and Midwifery is to train community health professionals with the appropriate level of education that can be achieved through planned activities, guidance and conducting research in education, faculty training and continuous evaluation. SNM strives to promote education, accountability, and stakeholder engagement in achieving organizational goals, preserving human values and justice consistent with maintaining and promoting community health.
The Faculty intends to carry out its services in Bam County by employing capable and experienced professors in the fields of education and research and the qualitative and quantitative development of educational departments, developing novel methods in education and research, while educating proficient students, in order to provide the Nursing and Midwifery forces, and by conducting scientific research, take effective steps to identify nursing and midwifery complications and to find essential solutions to solve city problems.
