School of Medicine
History:
The Bam school of medicine (BMS) was founded in September 2012 with the admission of 93 students for General Practice and Medical Laboratory Sciences (GP ) in order to achieve the highest educational and health promotion objectives in the city. Before establishing the BMS, the Bam School of Nursing offered a B.Sc. in laboratory sciences.
In February 2016, the school of medicine began enrolling students for the first associate s degree program in laboratory sciences. In 2012, the school of medicine continued its activities by transferring the undergraduate laboratory sciences from the School of Nursing . The current enrollment is 379 students.
Objectives:
Main Objectives in the Education Area:
Train students to fully comply with all the requirements and principles of medical ethics
School students who consider their chief goal providing the best health care services to the community and patients
Train graduates who, through scientific research, innovation and creativity, advance the frontiers of medical knowledge
Nurture and deepen students' understanding of the underlying disease mechanisms, which will be complemented by acquiring the skills needed to practice medicine.
Proper use of basic and theoretical knowledge in dealing with clinical issues
Further education of medical community graduates to optimize service delivery and minimize medical errors
Ensure student-centered curriculum
Tutor students based on the Community health care system, Community-based education
Research Goals:
Strive to bolster research culture in educational and academic spaces
Establish research priorities of the faculty in collaboration with the educational departments
Conduct Targeted educational and research studies
Develop research infrastructures including laboratory, library, IT
Conduct educational research projects concerning general medical practice
Service Delivery Goals:
Establish partnerships with health centers to work towards health promotion and disease prevention
Provide services by relying on personal respect and inter-organizational coordination among the stakeholder community
Expand community service areas for GP students
Improve students' attitude in making suggestions for improving the quality of services
Spark interest in students to work in line with the activities and programs of the service delivery system and work to meet the needs of the community
Vision:
The Medical School seeks to promote community health by providing appropriate educational services and training efficient human forces. In this regard, efforts are made to put ethical values at the forefront of its work by strictly adhering to educational standards and institutionalizing human values.
Mission:
The mission of BMS is to train skilled health professionals with the required academic levels through planning, guidance and conducting research in education, training faculty members, and continuous evaluation. Setting the ground for educational innovations in the faculty and institutionalizing assessment and evaluation are parts of the BMS mission. The Medical School strives to promote education, accountability, and engagement among its staff and students in line with achieving organizational goals, preserving human values and justice consistent with promoting community health.
