University of Tehran is Iran’s leading modern university. Some parts of the university were established at the time of Amirkabir, the then prime minister of the Qajar dynasty, within the framework of Darul-Funun (Polytechnic) School in 1851.

As a pioneer in higher education, University of Tehran was officially ratified by the Iranian parliament in 1934.

University of Tehran upholds international standards in research and education and encourages academic exchanges at all levels. The increase of international cooperation, exchange programs and international students is a reflection of UT’s vision for educational excellence. With the cooperation of many countries in holding international conferences, seminars and workshops, UT regularly hosts many international delegations and professors.
