Vice Chancellery for Research Affairs, as one of the authorities in health promotion, has taken measures through designing appropriate strategic plans to promote the research affairs. One of the main strategies and measures taken in vice-chancellery for research is development of applied sciences to find solutions for everyday health needs based on "The Future Outlook of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Horizon of the Next Two Decades" document.
In recent years, researchers affiliated to Shiraz University of Medical Sciences have had an outstanding role in science production and expanding the borders of knowledge worldwide. At present, Shiraz University of Medical Sciences is ranked amongst the 1% of universities in the world and the third among Iranian universities of medical sciences regarding to the citations to its published scientific articles.

The Vice Chancellor / Chief executive of finance, administration and human resources provides strategic and operational financial leadership to the university and management team of the health system.
The Vice Chancellor’s office consists of a team who provide comprehensive systems planning and oversight solutions include expertise in the areas of Capital Improvement, Fiscal Management, Health Care Service Development, Organisational Performance and Accountability, Strategic Planning, Institutional Research, Information Technology, Operating Budget, Procurement, and Human Resources.
Together with the Vice Chancellor, the deputy Vice Chancellors form a leadership team that contributes to decision-making across the University on all significant issues covering strategy, management, administration and related policies.
The vice chancellor of management and resources development seeks to be a pioneer among all of the vice chancellors of management and resources development of the country by using the most effective and latest sciences and managing existing capitals in reaching and promoting health of the country according to the principle of social justice and sustainable development.
