The purpose of this course is to promote theoretical and practical skills of general dentists in order to offer advanced dental services to the society. During this course the fundamentals and basics of dental implant prosthodontics will be taught both theoretically and practically.

Human teeth are an important part of the masticator system which significantly affects the physical and the psychological conditions of a patient. Following the loss of teeth substantial functions such as chewing, speaking and esthetics become deranged.

Conventional methods include replacing lost teeth with tooth supported fixed dental protheses or soft-tissue supportrd dentures. Unfortunately these therapeutic methods damage the existing soft and hard tissues and do not satisfy the performance and comfort expectations of the patient.

Nowadays these older methods are facing depression. Scientific developments in recent years have led to the creation of specific therapeutic methods labeled dental implants. These implants not only replace the lost structure but also maintain the existing soft and hard tissues .General dentists as a group with the most interaction with patients must have the necessary knowledge in this field in order to offer advanced dental services for the promotion of public health. Completing this course increases the theoretical and practical skills of dental practitioners in order to offer professional services result in public health promotion.

1. Generic implant terminology
2. Prosthetic treatment options in dental implantology
3. Prosthodontic considerations before placing implants
4. Fundamentals of implant-supported cement-retained fixed prostheses
5. Fundamentals of implant-supported screw-retained fixed prostheses
6. Treatment options for implant-supported fixed prostheses in edentulous mandible
7. Occlusal considerations in implant-supported prostheses
8. Treatment options of implant-supported overdentures
9. Procedures for making implant-supported overdentures
10. Introduction to various prosthetic components in implant systems

B) Complete description of skill implementation:
After completing the theoretical course and introduction to the fundamentals and basics of implant-supported fixed prostheses and overdentures, the dentist can perform the procedures for making a fixed implant-supported restoration including examination, diagnosis and treatment design, radiography interpretation, impression making, abutment selection, try-in, occlusal adjustment and prosthesis delivery with an expert prosthodontist clinically. Dentist become acquainted with procedures for making implant-supported overdentures on the models and real patients. Dentists become familiarized with different prosthetic components of a system, their applications and how to apply them.
