The Pain Research Center (PRC) of Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences (AJUMS) started its research activities after obtaining an agreement in principle from the Ministry of Health and Medical Education in April 2013. At the outset of its official activity, Dr. Reza Akhondzadeh, a well-known pioneer in the field of anesthesiology, pain and intensive care, was elected as the president of the this center, and Dr. Mohammad Reza Pipelzadeh, as the vice president.
Since then, this center has pursued its ceaseless activity by taking advantage of the presence and unwavering cooperation of experienced and hard-working professors and researchers. So far, a large number of research projects (theses and dissertations for the partial fulfilment of degrees of general medicine, as well as medical specialties and subspecialties) as well as other types of research works have been conducted in this center. Numerous articles have also been published in prestigious Iranian and international journals by members of the Anesthesiology Department of AJUMS. In addition, several books have been translated, summarized, or authored independently by experienced professors and anesthesiologists, or in collaboration with professors in related fields. Dr. Fatemeh Javaherfoorshzade and Dr. Nima Bakhtiari are currently the president and vice president of the Pain Research Center, respectively since April 2019.
